💡 Key tip: Keep it away from legumes like pea, bean and runner bean; garlic hinders their growth and disrupts the nitrogen fixation in the roots. Side by side with strawberry and raspberry it gives excellent protection: double rows of garlic can cut spider mites on strawberries by 44-65%.
🤝 Companion logic: On strawberry and raspberry it repels spider mites and the Japanese beetle, and with its sulphur compounds (allicin) it protects against fungal diseases; it should be kept away from legumes (bean, pea) and from the other members of the onion family (onion, leek, chives) — they share the same pests and diseases (onion maggot/fly).
