💡 Key tip: Lavender is a powerful pollinator (bee/butterfly) attractor and natural pest repellent: the linalool it contains keeps away moths, fleas, aphids and mosquitoes. Prune lightly after flowering; NEVER cut back to old/woody stems (they don't regrow), prune from fresh leaf-bearing shoots.
🤝 Companion logic: Of Mediterranean origin, it is a drought-loving, lime-loving plant; with its strong scent it repels moths and many pests and draws pollinators. It is a classic good match with roses (repels aphids), brassicas (repels the cabbage moth), fruit trees (repels the codling moth + aids pollination) and alliums. CAUTION: it wants dry, well-drained soil; it has a condition mismatch with frequently watered, moist vegetable beds (e.g. it has a scent benefit with tomato, but tomato wants far more water — use cautiously). Don't plant it next to invasives like mint, which will smother the lavender.
