💧 WateringRegular; critical during fruit set, keeping water off the leaves is preferred

⭐ DifficultyEasy
🗓️ SeasonSpring / Autumn

📅 Calendar is for the Northern Hemisphere; in the Southern Hemisphere shift sowing times by ~6 months.

💡 Key tip: Strawberries grow close to the ground and rot easily; put straw or a strawberry mat (mulch) under the fruit. Don't plant strawberries in a bed where tomato, potato, pepper or eggplant grew in the last 4-5 years; the Verticillium fungus stays in the soil for a long time.
🤝 Companion logic: Garlic, onion and chives repel spider mites and aphids with their pungent scent and protect strawberries from grey mould (Botrytis); borage draws pollinators and beneficial insects. Keep them away from brassicas (cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kohlrabi): there is mutual growth suppression and competition for nutrients/moisture. Also avoid fennel (allelopathy) and nightshades such as tomato, potato, pepper and eggplant; these raise the risk of Verticillium wilt.
